Target Distance-----> Equivalent Time Sheet

This sheet will allow you to enter a list of distances and times for runners on your team and convert their times to a common "Target Distance." The "Distance" in the second column and the "Target Distance" at the top can be entered in either miles or meters. Any distance entered that's less than 50 is assumed to be in miles. Those that are 50 or over will assumed to be in meters. In the default (when you reset) Bob's distance is 3 miles while Ted's is 4228 (3 miles in meters). They both convert to 18:10 for 3.107 miles (or 5000 meters). Try putting 3.107 for the Target Distance. Like most other equivalent performance calculators, the Rigel Equation is used for conversions. The Rigel Equation takes the time from a race and multipies it by the ratio of the original distance to the new distance raised to the power of 1.06.
                T2=T1*(D2/D1)^1.06.
The closer the two distances, the more accurate the conversion. In the example to the left, Carol's conversion of  3 miles to 5000 meters will  be more accurate than  Alice's conversion  of a mile to 5000 meters.  Being able to enter any distance is useful if you have a course that you think runs faster or slower than the stated distance.  Just put in your best guess for how the course runs and it'll convert to the target distance.
